A register you can audit
Nobody should be able to add or remove members quietly. This is how Linda Mwananchi keeps its register honest.
-
1
Two people sign off every change. One officer proposes it and a different officer approves it before it takes effect.
-
2
Every action is logged. Who did what, and when, goes into an audit trail, from a member update to an election-night result form.
-
3
Results are published as they are verified. On election night anyone can follow them live.
Before you apply
Is membership really free?
Yes. There is no fee to join and no fee to stay a member. Only aspirants who vie for a seat pay a nomination fee.
What do I need to apply?
Your National ID or passport number (the one you registered to vote with), a phone number that can receive SMS, and your home ward. If you are on the voter register, we fill in the rest for you.
I don't have a smartphone. Can I still join?
Yes. Any phone with a browser can open the form, or a friend or ward volunteer can help you apply with your own ID and phone number.
How long does approval take?
The party office reviews every application before it goes on the register. We text you your membership number as soon as you are approved, and you can check your application on the verify page in the meantime.
I belong to another party. What happens?
One person, one party. Under the Political Parties Act you may belong to only one political party at a time. Check your status by dialling *509# or on the ORPP self-service portal, and resign from your previous party before your new membership can be confirmed.
How is my data handled?
Member data is handled under the Political Parties Act and the Data Protection Act, and you can stop party SMS at any time. Read the privacy notice.
